Oklahoma will soon be required to restart all eligibility reviews for all soonercare members

Medical Staff

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, routine SoonerCare eligibility renewals were paused as part of the Public Health Emergency (PHE).  Medicaid agencies were required to continue health care coverage for members, even if their eligibility changed.  This means members could continue being covered by SoonerCare during the PHE, even if they no longer qualified.  However, Oklahoma was required to restart eligibility reviews for SoonerCare members in Spring of 2023.  The Oklahoma Health Care Authority began to alert members in February 2023 of eligibility reviews.

SoonerCare members should take the time to think about their healthcare needs and plan in case their eligibility is denied and SoonerCare coverage ends.

  1. Update your information NOW on mysoonercare.org or call 1-800-987-7767
  2. If you get a letter asking you to provide information or take action for your renewal – respond immediately.
  3. If you are found to be ineligible for SoonerCare, you may be eligible for Health Insurance Marketplace outside of the normal open enrollment period.  People who lose SoonerCare eligibility have through July 2024 to apply for Health Insurance Marketplace.
  4. If you are eligible for affordable coverage through an employer, you have 60 days to enroll through your employer.  If affordable healthcare is not available through your employer, you may be eligible for the marketplace.
